Jen Bradford | Featured Artist

"Several themes recur as a private narrative while I work, but aren’t always explicit. They include ideas about isolation and connection, compulsiveness, the desire for a clean slate, and a sense of expectation or foreboding, among others. My impulse is to transform these preoccupations into a visual structure as a way of making sense of the world and finding beauty in it. Feeling mostly bewilderment with moments of clarity can be a drag, but in paintings I like it."

Marlies Hoevers | Featured Artist

Marlies Hoevers is the founder of 'HoeversID', an art studio where she explores unconventional materials like concrete, cement, textile, sawdust, and cardboard. What fascinates her is the process of revealing the hidden beauty in ordinary materials. Her artwork is characterized by a combination of smooth, cracked, mottled, scratched and different textures, rather than perfect smoothness. Marlies adds delicate materials such as wire or sawdust to create a more fragile or softer appearance to the concrete.

Kellie Lawler | Artist Feature

"I am inspired by structured design, patterns and textiles and mixing that with the freedom of a Picasso style continuous line technique to create a graphic perspective on human figures, nature and other subjects. This process offers me both the recklessness in creating a subject in one continuous line with no worry over proportion or perfection and then the controlled hard edge painting. In the end, with its imperfect form one of my paintings may be seen differently in the viewer’s eyes than it did in mine when I created it."

Jeri Ledbetter | Featured Artist

Jeri Ledbetter is inspired and compelled both by nature’s oddities and man-made structures. She is enthralled with the contrast of, and interplay between, industry and nature. Ledbetter lets her paint and pencil decide the course of her piece; she does not want the involuntary and free hand to be controlled by a plan and scheme. Through her work she embraces the accidental, the surprises.

Michelle Y Williams | Featured Artist

Imperfections, flaws, rust, asymmetry, texture, peeling paint and the principles of wabi-sabi all enliven and excite Michelle Y Williams. She approaches her blank canvas with just a beginning and no preconceived end result. Williams seeks to find balance within the work; experimenting and exploring ways to refine her craft without self-constraint. “If I am able to engage the observer, make a connection which couldn’t be conveyed verbally and ultimately elicit a visceral reaction - my work is done.”
