John-Paul Philippe is a New York City based painter and designer who earned his BFA in Art & Art History from the University of Oklahoma in 1978. Born and raised in Oklahoma, Philippe spent twenty-three years as a painter in London. Working from his studio in SoHo, his artistic vision has evolved from painting into a diverse portfolio encompassing architectural and furniture design, murals, sculptures, and handcrafted woodwork.
Philippe's work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions worldwide. In 2010, he collaborated with West Elm to create The John-Paul Philippe Collection, which includes sculptures, paintings, drawings, and fabric designs. His large-scale sculptures, metal work, paintings, and textile designs are installed in Barney’s boutiques from Beverly Hills to Ginza, Japan. His work is included in both private art collections and museums and has been featured in publications such as Wallpaper Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, L’UOMO Vogue, and The Los Angeles Times.
After spending decades in the UK and then working as an artist in New York—most notably for Barneys and various galleries—has returned to his roots. In the wilds of northern Connecticut, he finds solace in nature, creating uninterrupted and drawing inspiration from his surroundings. Whether he's painting, sculpting, or reworking nature into a personal art project, John-Paul is living on his own terms in what he describes as a little slice of heaven.
