Night Vision | Paul Crane

• Background & Education: Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Paula Crane first developed her passion for art while living in Oldenburg, West Germany. She later earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she subsequently served as an instructor of silkscreen and printmaking.

• Inspiration & Style: Crane is best known for her modernist landscape and botanical serigraphs. An avid outdoor enthusiast, much of her signature work draws directly from her time backpacking through the wilderness and mountain ranges of the American West.

• Technique: Her prints are celebrated for their sophisticated color-layering, intricate light translation, and graphic, semi-abstract compositions. By utilizing traditional multi-block fine art press techniques—evident by the blindstamps and embossed chop marks at the bottom of her prints—she constructed atmospheric scenes using subtle, muted palettes of slate, mineral teal, charcoal, and stone.

"Night Vision" by Paula Crane presents a serene, atmospheric view of an alpine woodland reflection.
