Louisiana non-figurative artist Ken Tate’s art explores the more emotional aspects of the human condition. The impetus for the current work comes from the writings of Beats such as Kerouac and Ginsberg, the writing and short stories of Jorge Borges, the works of abstract expressionists Robert Motherwell, William de Kooning, John Chamberlain and David Smith, as well as the works of Robert Rauschenberg.
Ken works with abstract painting forms and taps into something almost primordial – something archetypal. He is drawn to color and shapes and taps into pure uncontrollable creativity. His mixed media celebrity portraits are very unique impressions of the image and the individual he is working on. He has been commissioned to do over 60 celebrity portraits and even does corporate commissions as well.
