Jodi Walsh is a creator of beautiful objects, including folding clay and hand-built ceramics. Inspired by the endless possibilities of fashion and design, Jodi’s work is also deeply influenced by her extensive travels. Much of the time she is influenced from places she’s lived, such as Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Hong Kong, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Europe, Africa and England to name just a few.
In 1967, Jodi left her home country of Canada to explore Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East. Jodi’s talent as an artist is innate, and she is entirely self-taught. Her unique style, inspired by nature, is brought to life through her use of “Oritatami Nendo: folding clay” – a technique that produces stunning and original pieces of art. Jodi's creations resonate with all cultures and styles, reflecting her deep connection to the environment and the natural world. Jodi encourages her clients to interact with and arrange wall installations so they are part of the creative journey.
Using environmentally safe materials is as important to Jodi as the images she creates. Layering clay on textured surfaces and suspending ceramic from stainless steel thread and hemp has taken her work to a new level of expression. “Once my hands touched clay it opened up a world to me that I didn’t expect. The thought of creating hand made forms from clay sent me down a path that is never ending."
